Spanish term
polyetros
Spanish to English
Science
Dental Elastomers
This appears in a history of dental materials used down through the centuries:
"1856 Cera de abeja
1864 Gutta Percha
1890 Yeso de impresión
1925 Hidrocoloides reversibles
1940 Alginatos
1954 Mercaptanos / Polysulfuros
1955 Siliconas por condensación
1964 ***Polyetros***
1975 Siliconas por adición
1985 Siliconas por adición "hydrofilica"
I can't find "polyetros" or its more likely spelling "polietros" anywhere. (No luck with the singular form either.) Later in the text the word comes up again in a list of elastomers that also includes mercaptans and polysiloxanes.
I have a feeling that the author is trying to be clever, and to shorten an existing expression by combining two or three words into one. Very convenient for the author and inconvenient for everyone else! But I digress. I can't work out for the life of me what "polyetros" are meant to be. Maybe one of the Spanish speakers would know? Remember, it's a kind of elastomer that started being used in dentistry in 1964. Hope those clues help. TIA for your assistance.

Comment: "Thank you very much! Thanks also and commiserations to the others who answered sooner with what turned out to be the right answer. However, ACB gets the points for providing me with the hard evidence that has convinced me beyond doubt. Muchas gracias de nuevo a todos."

Could it be polyether
Los materiales de impresión para restauraciones indirectas de precisión químicamente se dividen en cuatro tipos de elastómeros: los polisulfuros, silicona de condensación, silicona de polimerización por adición
Used for crown and bridge work, partial dentures, implants and overdentures. Mixed in a 1:1 ratio until homogeneous colour, the amount of catalyst used can be used to control the setting time. Used in special or stock trays with an adhesive. A one or two stage technique can be used. Although dimensionally stable the impression should be cast within 24 hours.
1) Polyethers come as a two paste system for mixing
