I imagine this is "beggar" but I want to make sure. Here is the sentence:

"Las personas que tienen seguros médicos pasan las de Cain para que las atiendan cuando se enferman, así que imagínense que será de una tecata y una "pidiona" que no tienen en qué caerse muertas.

I decided to go with this one, although I liked all the answers. The person saying this sentence is a writer, he knows his language and I don't believe he would have placed the quotations around the word "pidiona" which he knows is mispelled, unless it had a different connotation to it, I believe "hustler" will do the trick.
