Swedish term

vertikalskuren

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Other overseeding a golf course
vertikalskuren och sådd med Pro Seeder
(one section of a green that had this done compared to 2 other sections for later comparison purposes).
Literally cut vertically...
I don't get what they mean (something tells me I shouldn't have taken this text!)
Advice appreciated.

Discussion

Helen Johnson (asker) Aug 20, 2008:
Sorry, I've now had a further explanation from my client, where apparently the client was asked and eventually sent examples of things that s/he thought were dissatisfactory (I'd actually written cut vertically). S/he hasn't said whether or not this was a term that was still not acceptable...heaven knows! I can't see what else it could mean, so I'm going to accept vertically cut.
Helen Johnson (asker) Aug 20, 2008:
NB: the end client is apparently being a bit difficult and isn't providing an explanation, and nor is s/he accepting the term. I fail to see why not if this is what the term/phrase means - which is also not that easy to translate when you haven't even been given full sentences.

Vertically cut

What you do to e.g. a lawn. You cut vertically into it with a machine equipped with rotating knives.

Why? Not sure, but maybe to air it, to enable fertilizer to go deeper into the soil, to make holes for the seed to fall into.

vertically mown

Just another suggestion- but I think "vertically cut" sounds fine!
