..that has no idea whatsoever what this is about. Some stuff, I open by double-clicking on my desktop or in the browser, other stuff is opened with "one click" (?) using Start. Is this what you mean? :3

It's about whether you prefer to have your OS behave as a web application Aug 10, 2009

I, for one, prefer to double click to open a file, and keep that different from single clicking, which traditionally means selecting. But in browsers you click once to open or jump, selecting really does not exist, so in its infinite wisdom Microsoft has seen it fit to eliminate that difference by letting us choose to save a nanosecond by clicking just once to open files on our OS.

As you can see by prior comments, for some that seems to be precious time saved. What are you going to do with all that extra time?

Double click. To decrease the risk of accidentally doing things. I can't imagine I would save much time if any going from double to single click. Possibly save myself some muscle movements in my index finger... but exercise is healthy, right?

I think it says something about our personality.
Single-click: you are a straightforward person.
Double-click: you like to fool around.

Just kiddin', of course

Depends on the OS, the computer, and the program Aug 10, 2009

My Mac opens most things with one click.
However, certain programs allow a double-click instead of a click on the select button.

My PC opens most things with a double-click.
However, certain programs use a single click instead.

If this is a key stroke counting question, then my online mahjong playing is going to count against me
