But sometimes even he has to admit that that cock really is saying cockadoodle-doo, not chicchirichì.

Marie-Hélène's post reminds me of a couple of months ago when I was visiting my nephew and niece. I use my mobile phone as my alarm clock and have it set so it wakes me to a "cock-a-doodle-doo!" sound (funny for the first few mornings but just a pain now!). I had woken up before my alarm that morning and was sitting with my nephew (6) when it went off.
