Hello,

Au voeu de l'article 169 du Code Civil, Le Procureur d'Etat à Luxembourg a accordé le trente et un mai dernier dispense de la publication de mariage à faire a Kearney, Etats-Unis.

Pursuant to, in accordance with, under or should there something to reflect the voluntary nature of the act.

Many thanks in advance

agree writeaway : pursuant to, in accordance with, (in view of, in the light of -not in this context afaik). they also use it for 'under' but that wouldn't be the best solution here imho.

Careful. This is particular to Luxembourg and the translation is "At the wish"

It will all depend on whether your client is in Luxembourg where legal terms are expressed a little differently.

According to subparagraph 3, the joint or unilateral declaration is transmitted by the qualified registrar to the general parquet floor for desired purposes of conservation and inscription. At the wish of the bearing amendment on subparagraph 3 of the aforesaid article 13, "an extract of the inscription to the civil repertory noting the end of a partnership must be presented, if it is necessary, at the registrar for a partnership or of a marriage".

neutral Nick Lingris : Anna, "au voeu de" is indeed a strange Luxembourgish expression, but in English, no matter where it's used, "at the wish of" can be followed only by a person or a body of persons, not the article of a law.

disagree JCEC : This is not s reference but a poor translation of the French!

neutral Martine Brault : If your English version is from a bona fide reference, could you please give its origin?,

disagree Gina W : I have never seen "at the wish of" in a legal text written in English

neutral writeaway : things are done in accordance with or pursuant to a given provision in the law. provisions don't have any wishes.
