I have found atrophy and artrophy and cannot tell them apart.
This is from a prosthetic mounting and describes how the tissues surrounding the mounting react to its special properties:

Die das Zwischenstück umgebenden Weichteile **arthrophieren** an das Zwischenstück heran, und zwar im intrakorporal zugewandten Bereich des Zwischenstückes deutlich stärker als im extrakorporal zugewandten Teil aufgrund der speziellen Ausbildung des Zwischenstückes.

The soft tissues surrounding the spacer ??artrophy/atrophy?? onto the spacer, and significantly more so in the area of the spacer facing the intracorporal direction than in the part facing the extracorporal direction, due to the special design of the spacer.
