Change log

Nov 16, 2007 16:17: Angela Arnone changed "Edited KOG entry" from "<a href="/profile/675086">Gina Ferlisi's</a> old entry - "stakeholders"" to ""azionisti""

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): sofiablu (X)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Gina Ferlisi (asker) Nov 19, 2007:
Sorry, Angela, but as it was the first answer with a good link, i quickly asigned the points .but as you now i have now resignedthe points to the most worthy answer..sorry for all the mess it was unintentional
Angela Arnone Nov 16, 2007:
Gina, this is very puzzling. Stakeholders is an English word. So if the Italian text uses it, why not leave it as it is? Also, I find it totally inexplicable that you have preferred an answer that your very worthy colleagues have told you is wrong.

mi premeva soprattutto che la voce assegnata a glossario venisse corretta, in modo che altri non incappassero nello stesso errore... grazie anche per i punti, naturalmente :-)

thank you dane!
agree Ivana UK : stakeholders is already in English so need to translate!! (stakeholders are stakeholders and azionisti are shareholders - two different things irrespectve of what the author may have meant - if they used stakeholders in error then that's not your problem)

grazie Riccardo!
agree Vittorio Felaco : Non solo dell'impresa ma anche del sistema politico in ogni progetto che si stia progettando, sia esso un ponte o una riforma legislativa.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Grey Drane (X) : first of all, it's an Italian text, and second, stakeholders are more than just the shareholders. I imagine that if they meant "azionisti" in this context, they would have said that and not "stakeholders".

neutral James (Jim) Davis : I would say that depends on the Italian author's knowledge of English and what he intended. I have clients who correct my English by changing "shareholders" to "stakeholders". "Stakeholder" is THE buzz word, in a semantic state of flux in EN and IT.
15 mins
disagree Riccardo Schiaffino : I agree with Grey: "stakeholders" includes shareholders but also people who are definitely not shareholders, such as customers, employees etc.
58 mins
disagree Vittorio Felaco : This is what drives me bananas about this ProZ!
1 hr
disagree Giovanni Pizzati (X) : STAKEHOLDER è un cointeressato ad una gestione aziendale, ma non del tutto identificato con un azionista.
1 hr
disagree Angela Arnone : what is there to add?

neutral Riccardo Schiaffino : sarei d'accordo, naturalmente, ma qui la collega voleva la traduzione in inglese (perché poi abbia scelto azionisti...)
