Adzes

Most adzes suffice - they're not a critical point in choosing an axe. However the adze design is more of a consideration for mixed climbing. Examples:

a. DMM. Over large, clumsy adze, doesn't chop ice or torque well, would be good for shovelling snow if it didn't have a big hole.
b. Mountain Technology. Good clean flat adze, good all round performance.
c. Cassin. I don't like curved adzes, nor the pointed corners.
d. Cassin Formula. Improvement on the previous adze: pointy corners have gone.
e. HB. Trapezoidal technical adze is supposed to be better for torqueing and technical climbing, I'm not entirely sure why. I haven't tried the HB out on the mixed, I suspect the adze torques very well provided the cracks are deep enough. The tapered part of the adze really requires teeth along the edges to engage against the crack edges. Good ice chopper, bit too small for moving snow.
f. Charlet Moser. Another trapezoid. Good all rounder. Wider adzes can be torqued in wider cracks.
g. Mountain Technology. DIY improved - shaped corners for torqueing. No. 1 on the mixed for me.

pala (de montañismo)

http://www.montanismo.org.mx/equipo/equipo-02.htm

you can also check at www.barrabes.com, a well-known mountain equipment shop in the Spanish Pyrenees - it has a search engine in both English and Spanish. \"Adze\" matches \"pala\". I think this link will also be very useful for the rest of your translation. Good luck!!!
