English term
wrangling bees
English to Spanish
Other
General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
People have made a living tasting ice cream, wrangling bees, making crossword puzzles, and test-driving new cars.
I'm not sure if this is like bee keeping or just the opposite.
Here is Webster's definition:
1. To quarrel noisily, angrily or disruptively; "The bar keeper threw them out, but they continued to wrangle on down the street".[Wordnet]
2. Herd and care for; "wrangle horses".[Wordnet]
3. To argue; to debate; to dispute.[Websters]
4. To dispute angrily; to quarrel peevishly and noisily; to brawl; to altercate.[Websters]
5. To involve in a quarrel or dispute; to embroil.[Websters]
Is anyone familiar with the meaning of this?
Thanks!

ordeñar serpientes
As I explained in the discussion area, it's not meant to be a translation, just an example of an unusual job.

capturando enjambres de abejas
Creo que tiene que ver con el peligroso trabajo de manejar abejas cuando estan fuera de control o silvestres

: With "eating ice cream" and "making crossword puzzles", don't you think it might be the unusualness rather than the danger that links them all together? After all, only one might be considered dangerous, but all of them are certainly unusual.

de acuerdo, "unusual", solo quise decir que "wrangling bees" es un trabajo peligroso; el adjetivo no es parte de la traduccion requerida. Saludos

We've had to call in bee-wranglers a few times but we call them 'colmeneros' or 'apicultores', and it doesn't sound so strange.

I think it could be replaced by some other weird-sounding profession. Suerte :)
