I'm really not sure what this means here, so I've listed each use of it in my document. Can anyone shed any light?

On voit là l’importance du « slack organisationnel », le contraire d’une mise sous tension systématique.

: Yes, agree. Nothing to do with electricity. It is finding and eliminating production waste, such as time wasted waiting for the previous step in the production flow to be completed, or wasteful inventory build-up just to avoid running out at bottlenecks

I spoke to a bilingual Lean expert this morning who feels that "mise sous tension" in Lean terminology is "pull" in English. The basic principle is that production is "make to order" with each step of the production flow, beginning with the customer's order, "pulling" the step that precedes it.

Pour le reste, je suis d'accord avec philgoddard. Beaucoup de mots pour dire tout croche! On comprend mieux la source citée par John Fossey, version beaucoup plus claire de cette "chose" bancale qui "s'autodévore": Le muda ([l'élimination du!] gaspillage) a dévoré... la solution... de chasse au gaspillage... (?!?!) Cet effort stylistique est soit la traduction d'un original peu clair, soit l'oeuvre de quelqu'un qui ne maîtrise pas encore ce dont il parle...
