Yes, countless | Dec 21, 2012 |
We have them every month in Cardiff and take it in turns to organise them. We've been holding them since May 2008 and I haven't missed many.

I organised one but it didn't happen because nobody replied! It has to be said we're a small community (17) and I'm not even sure that all those who're enrolled on Proz are still active. I'd be interested to find out from other organisers what the average turn-out ratio is? (i.e. number of invites sent/number of attendees).

Twice and I hope I won't have to wait another year for the next one!

The Scottish ones seem to take place in Edinburgh, rather than Glasgow. Since that adds an hour to the journey time each way and makes a day-trip out of the question for me I'm waiting for a Glasgow one.

I've heard of Proz powwows for years, never attended one. However, I have attended some Proz-sponsored events, such as the nice dinner for translators arranged by Proz locals in Córdoba (2005) after two days of conferences. I suppose powwows meet a certain local need that I don't see happening in the continental U.S., however. One ironical twist: powwow (the word) has American Indian origins. We would call them meetups here across the pond, but that's just me. ... See more I've heard of Proz powwows for years, never attended one. Allison Wright (X) Portugalsko Local time: 00:51 I look forward to Porto 2013 | Dec 21, 2012 |
The ProZ International Translators' Conference is in Porto, Portugal in June 2013. At a 5-hour train trip from where I live, this is the closest I have ever been to a non-Web Proz event. Pre-conference pow-wow is on 7 June. I shall be attending. Yay! (Edited because I no longer know what year it is.)

I attended all three in Santiago, Chile, I enjoyed them a lot. One was a repeat that was held in my honor. None have ever been held remotely close to where I live, but we have our local association, so we meet often under the banner of EPITA.
Anyone can organise one, can't they? | Dec 23, 2012 |

I thought all Proz members could organise them. Or is this not the case?

I don't think one has ever been held in the West Bank, and in fact, I doubt there are enough ProZ members here to organize one. I never seem to be in Düsseldorf at the right time to catch one there either, but they sound like fun.
