Word: Missing Trados tool bar

Folks

Can anyone help here. My Trados tool bar has disappeared from Word. I have never seen this before. This is seemingly related to a Trados error I have ecountered this morning. I have been trying to reslove it, now the Trados tool bar has gone. Any advice would be warmly welcomed. Cheers,

Did you try 'Templates and Adds-in'? Sep 25, 2009

Hi Chris,

If you go to Tools ->'Templates and Adds-in' you can check whether Trados appears there. If TRADOS.dot is there, but it is not marked, you can simply tick it.
If TRADOS.dot is missing, you can try to find your TRADOS.dot file manually (with the add-in tool), or you can reinstall/repair your TRADOS.

I really do appreciate your reply, as I have a translation to be getting on with and am sinking here a bit. I did a system update on 10 September, and noticed that from that point on, when I shut Word down it asked me "Do you want to save changes to Trados8?". I thought, "ohhh, great, heeeere we go". I have Trados7, not 8. In fact, there does not seem to have been any issue, until this morning, when it appears to have taken the haughty decision to uninstall itself.

Trados8.dot is there, and is ticked, but I still have not got the Trados tool bar in Word anymore. When I was trying to sort out the Trados document error I had this morning I noticed I could not open the "Trados" option from the Word menu (just to the right of Help), it was blocked. I suspect this has something to do with Trados8 rights, and the system upgrade I did.((((. Thanks so much,

Hi Chris,

I really can't tell what happened with your TRADOS, but I guess only an expert could tell that if he/he could see your system. What I can suggest is: try to reinstall/repair it.
But you can also make a search in proz.com' forums. You can see that others had similar problems, maybe you are going to find the solution here... See more

Hi - Thanks so much Katalin, you are a star **. From the extant forum discussions link you gave me (I really should have checked myself!) I found I no longer had TW4Win in View > Toolbars. I really don't know what I did to "uninstall" that, but I will now know for future reference how to troubleshoot this, or begin to. I owe you a Chinese meal, if you come to London at any point!. You are welcome. But actually the stars should be given to those, who gave many possible solutions in that thread. It's always worth it to search in proz.com forums when you have such technical problems. Obviously there are many experts here or people, who faced the same problems.
