Materials and Processes in Manufacturing [DeGarmo, Black, & Kohser] shows an \"insert-tooth face milling cutter\" and says that \"Most larger milling cutters are of the insert-tooth type. The cutter body is made of steel, with the teeth made of high-speed steel, carbieds or TiN carbides, fastened to the body by various methods ... This type of construction reduces the amount of costly material that is required and can be used for any type of cutter but most often is used with face mills\" (cf. above).
