...the telecommunications market is still a monopoly.
I believe only "monopoly" will do. It sounds weird with "the telecommunications market is still a monopoly trade". A market is not a trade. Try googling "market is a monopoly trade" and you will not find any hits. Try googling "market is a monopoly" instead and there will be quite some examples. :)
