French term

massif

in a cluster

I think the idea is to plant several cyclamen plants planted close together in one area, among other plants, to give maximum effect
Peer comment(s):

neutral Cetacea : Yes, but you might also do that in a big pot, not necessarily in the garden.

(Brigitte) Yes, you have a good point.
agree Cervin : But dont you think clusters suggests out in the garden rather than in a pot? e.g.They look pretty around the base of a tree. A pot seems to be self-explanatory because plants are contained in it.

This is a bit tricky, for sure! I agree that "clusters" suggests outside plantings...it just sounds right to me...not very scientific I'm afraid, in this case!
neutral Rachel Fell : cyclamen multiply, and you might plant them in groups (not too closely) but not in clusters

Peer comment(s):

agree Cetacea : You must be waiting for spring - or is the weather better in Luxemburg?

Luxembourg has the worst weather! And my 16 year old garden is about to be ripped apart by earth-movers. Just as the daffodils are about to bloom :-((((
agree PFB (X) : Technically speaking, you're right, this is the translation. I don't know about you, but it wouldn't occur to me to put cyclamens in a mixed border. Rockeries, paving, etc - but a mixed border? Who wrote that ? ;-)

they're much prettier in shady spots under trees and shrubs but these modern gardeners have no respect for tradition ;-)

agree Rachel Fell : are you having a garden "makeover"?? I think I've seen some cyclamen planted/growing in these borders/beds: http://www.parks.ox.ac.uk/\\Oh, I see
