German term
Runterstarten
Hi folks.
This is from the area of testing the power management software for a hybrid car. Not much context from this one. It is a paragraph title in a test plan. Does not appear twice in the document.
Ueberpruefung der Startauswertung durch Runterstarten
The test itself says to put a load on the electrical system and start the engine. Let it run for a few seconds, recording everything, then turn it off, and start the process again. Keep doing this until the battery will not support another start.
"Run down" starting, 'discharge' starting ???
All pointers appreciated.

You are certainly on the right track.
"by discharging the battery via repeated starts"
--------------------------------------------------
Note added at 6 mins (2006-04-14 17:37:02 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------
(But it is not "discharge starting"; more like "start discharging".)
--------------------------------------------------
Note added at 7 mins (2006-04-14 17:37:38 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------
(Which makes no sense; hence my longer formulation.)
BTW happy Easter.

Comment: "Thanks, DI. I finally went for "discharge by starting" as that seemed most descriptive.
P.S. Never let engineers write anything without an editor!"
