French term

reserve majeure

French to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Have searched the Proz glossary to no avail...

This appears in Ordering Terms and Conditions.

If anything is missing from the order (in this case, a bespoke software package) then this "sera considérée comme une RESERVE MAJEURE"

What is the appropriate legal equivalent?

neutral MatthewLaSon : You have the right meaning, but this sounds awkward in English. The idea is that the customer will be highly reluctant to accept/approve the order. "Major reservations" (pluralize it) would be better, but it doesn't sound contextually appropriate.

major protest/major reservation

It means that the person who placed the order has a major cause to have reservations or make a protest due to the fact that he has not received the goods as he requested or in the agreed upon conditions.

This will be grounds for the customer to be highly reluctant to accept/approve the order

Hello,

réserve majeure = major lack of approval for or acceptance of (reluctance to accept/approve)

In this case, the company will be highly reluctant to accept/approve to accept the order.

I think you need to word it completely different in English. To follow the French syntax and grammar pattern here will only make the sentence sound highly awkward in English.

I hope this helps.

I think "reservations" (should be pluralized) even sounds contextually awkward.
