English term

D-NY/NJ

English Tech/Engineering Telecom(munications) Verizon
"With this offer you’ll get all three of the best Verizon services – TV, Internet and Voice – and save as much as $180 in U-NY or $120 in D-NY/NJ over six months."

As far as I understand, those are areas in NY or NY/NJ, but what do U and D mean?

Thank you in advance.

agree Judith Hehir : It looks more like the way we designate our politicians, i.e., D-NY (Democrat from NY), etc, but in this case, it's definitely upstate and downstate.

U NY is almost certainly "upstate New York".
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : Delaware is geographically too far removed to be feasible

"upstate New York"..downtown New York(city) / New Jersey

"upstate New York"..downtown New York(city) / New Jersey

U-NY => "upstate New York"

D-NY => downtown New York (city)

NJ => New Jersey
Peer comment(s):

disagree writeaway : no. D-NY is not downtown NYC./I wouldn't say so if I didn't know so. I lived in NYC which is the actual abbreviation for New York City. NYC, N.Y.
