Bonjour,
Merci d'avance
Sophie

wiring layout
There are several possibilities, depending on the exact context in which it is used, but I think this is probably the most suitable for your particular context.

'cable' is also one of the viable alternatives; but as I said above, in this particular context, I think 'wiring' is more appropriate. Note that we often talk about 'outdated wiring', 'house wiring', and the IEE regulations governing electrical installaitons in the UK used to be known as the 'wiring regulations'.
Once again, it's mainly feeling that I can't quite analyse, but I still feel that 'wiring' is marginally preferable here.

Here's just one of many 'Net references that use it in exactly the same sort of context:
DIY - Electrics - Domestic Wiring and Circuits

Note also the use of 'tracé', and cf. 'tracé de voie' = 'track layout' in contexts like railways etc.

Well, as Paula so kindly provided a ref. above, here is the official translation of this very document:

cable routing
I think the objective is to read and understand the drawings in order to determine how cables are routed in each area of the facility. The reason I'm not very sure about "layout" as Tony said is that I recently encountered the sentence "cable routing in layered layout"....but this could only be an exception...

: Just feeling, but if you are determining something already existing, somehow 'layout' feels better than 'routing' (which might be what you'd design for a new installation). There's a nuance of technical meaning that is hard to explain.

Indeed you are right. Sometimes it gets really hard...Thank you for your comment. Have a great day.

Johannes Gleim
: I tend to agree, esp. in view of "cable". Wiring looks being more appropriate for electronics.

: I agree with the comment about the usage of 'cable' rather than 'wiring' in this context.

: Although I feel this would work in certain contexts, I'm not sure it's ideal here; we seem to be talking about all the existing wiring in a building, rather than just the run of some particular cable(s).

Read and interpret the sketches, circuit diagrams, the instruction of the electricity code, with the aim of routing (laying out) of the cables in the various new or existing buildings.
