French term

à partir des attentes

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Heating and air conditioning
Here is a curious use of the term "attentes", but it is used in a very similar context at "http://www.creps-nancy-lorraine.jeunesse-sports.gouv.fr/marc..."

L’alimentation électrique des équipements de ventilation se fera à partir des attentes laissées par le lot électricité au droit des armoires de ces équipements.

Bourth (X) May 19, 2011:
Contractual Thank God for Kentuckyans too:

The Contractor shall obtain exact centerline rough-in dimensions between partitions, walls, etc., as required for lay-out of his rough-in work. All work shall be roughed-in so that all exposed piping will be straight and true without bends or offsets

Raceways:
1. Sized as indicated on the drawings. Where sizes are not indicated, raceways SHALL BE sized as required by the National Electrical Code in accordance with the quantity, size, and type of the insulation conductors to be installed. Raceways SHALL BE minimum 3/4 in. trade size [ ... ] Plugged at the ends of each ROUGHED-IN raceway with an approved cap or disc to prevent the entrance of foreign materials during construction.

"Subparagraph" clinches it. This is CONTRACTUAL!
1. The Contract Documents executed or identified in accordance with Subparagraph 1.5.1 shall ... SUBPARAGRAPH 3.2.5 before the Work is ROUGHED IN. ...

Bourth (X) May 19, 2011:
Colloquial or contractual? Not actually a contract document, just related:
Where the electrical trade does not supply equipment, electrical services are to be ROUGHED IN as shown on tender documents
http://www.ecaottawa.org/pdf/Electrical_Scope_In_Final_Forma...

This is, however, however informal:

- ROUGHED IN PVC Drainage and Vent
- ROUGHED IN Copper Plumbing
http://adulths.ottawacatholicschools.ca/media.php?mid=78

This from a rather more formal Invitation to Tender:
All electrical for fuel pumps, island light and ROUGH IN conduit for future card reader from Change room in Service Centre. [ ... ] Petro Vend card reader to be ROUGHED IN, complete with all wiring, conduits and connections required for proper operation and future reconciliation

Thank God for Canadians! ;-)
Bourth (X) May 19, 2011:
@ Barbara Define "colloquial" and "contractual"! British legal experts are asking for "simple English" these days, so the two need not be mutually exclusive.
B D Finch May 19, 2011:
@Bourth Is "roughed in" more colloquial than contractual?
Bourth (X) May 19, 2011:
Ventilation units will be connected to supply cables roughed in by the Electrical Contractor ...

As David says, this term has come up quite a number of times.
David Goward May 19, 2011:
Archives "attentes" has been queried a number of times in the past:
See http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/engineering_gene... in particular.
In this case, the electrical contractor has left the power lines ready for connection to the ventilation equipment at the cabinets (presumably some sort of automatic controller cabinets).

:) As mentioned, this one comes up quite regularly.

Here's another example I've answered recently - not the same but silimar.
