In the same notarial certicate of notification and demand, diligencia appears in several places. I was going to use "formality", but I dont think it really fits in all cases.
1) (it begins with) *Diligencia*: para hacer constar que el presente documento... es remitido en base al acta notarial autorizada por mi.
2) Acepto el requerimiento que practicaré mediante *diligencias* a continuación (here formality would work) (this is closely followed by no.3)
3) *Diligencia de notificación*.- Siendo aproximadamente las diez horas, del día..., me constituyo yo, el notario, en el lugar indicado... .... y practico esta "diligencia".... (formality would work in the second case, but would it in the title?)
Any suggestions appreciated!

Diligencia is one of my least favourite words. It's a catch all word which has different meanings depending on the context. This is what I would do.

First of all, I'm not a legal expert so please only consider this a suggestion or food for discussion/thought.
I think "diligencia" is more than formality because you also have to take some sort of action to accomplish something. "Proceeding" is closer to the meaning you want I think.
In my opinion you could also use "action" as in the following:
1) Action:
2) "through the actions listed as follows..."
3) Notification action: ....."take this action...."
Or perhaps "Step" as in:
1) Step:
2) "through the steps listed as follows
3) "Notification Step": ......."take this step" (or complete this step, or execute this step).
