Tant qu'à faire autant utiliser les mots justes.
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Exactly the word I was searching for — and exactly the same distinction as is being made in EN.

Yeah, when it comes to pigs and Khalouf in general, I am right there.
neutral Johanne Benoit-Gallagher : Soue is considered a regional use of the word souille (France and Québec). Soue may not be the correct word here.

neutral Johanne Benoit-Gallagher : Would apply if there is no need to imply a size difference between the two (sty and pigsty).

Voir Termium.
Peer comment(s):

agree Johanne Benoit-Gallagher : I agree with this suggestion. There is a distinction to make between sty and pigsty that relate to the size of the place and the number of pigs. This descriptive term is best in my opinion.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : There is a difference, albeit very subtle: pigsty = soue, sty (as the name for a larger building) = porcherie / Round here (a major pig region!), soue = small individual pigsty for one or two pigs / porcherie = bigger building for several animals.

there is no way a "porcherie" means "porcherie industrielle"in French. I comme from a tiny farming village where many farms had a "porcherie" for the one pig. Check http://www.cnrtl.fr/definition/porcherie that says "porcherie, SYN soue".
