Dipstick
BAT stands for "bâtonnet", or "dipstick" in English. The BAT indicates that the parameter in question was tested/determined by means of a urine dipstick.

BAT value

Of German origin?

"Definition
The BAT value (“Biologischer Arbeitsstoff-Toleranz-Wert”: biological tolerance value for occupational exposures) is defined as the maximum permissible quantity of a chemical substance or its metabolites or the maximum permissible deviation from the norm of biological parameters induced by these substances in exposed humans."

The full stop/period after the BAT easily leads one to considering this not only an an acronym but also as a possible abbreviation. A detail but when you are translating, these things count, don't they?!
