Quizás la expresión \"contratación de material gráfico\" engloba la definición de \"art buying\"...

es jerga del mercado que "arte" es un aspecto del proceso creativo. De alli que exista el puesto de Director de Arte, que es el encargado de hacer una realidad grafica de las ideas generadas con los creativos (ilustraciones, diagramacion, fotos, etc.)

El arte de invertir en arte...

Es la primera idea que se me ocurrió al ver tu pregunta.
