French term

Etablissement de santé associé

French to English Medical Medical (general) clinical trials
"La présente convention a pour objet de décrire les prestations assurées par l’Etablissement de santé associé au profit de l’Entreprise, dans le cadre de la Recherche, les conditions dans lesquelles elles sont réalisées et les frais supplémentaires qu’elles occasionnent ci-après dénommés « Surcoûts »."

What is the official term in English for a healthcare institution carrying out a clinical trial on behalf of a sponsor corporation?

Thanks a lot!

If you want to get across the idea that the institution is being paid by the company to do this, I suggest "company-sponsored healthcare institution".

I'm starting to think that you are right, Phil. I thought there was an official term for "associé" and I was thinking about "participating" or "associated", but neither sounds quite right. Plus, in previous similar contracts I've never come across this phrasing, just simply "Etablissement de santé".

I think you've answered your own question. Healthcare institution. You can ignore "associé" - it just means "involved".

It is important to translate 'associé' - affiliated, indicating member of a same group with common practices and shared protocols.

//you detain the complete text and context, so you surely will have to decide what term fits best to this specific case..

Thank you for your answer, Cecilea. However, I'm not sure that affiliated is right here, maybe I failed to provide enough context, but this agreement is between a healthcare institution and a company who is the (paying) sponsor of the clinical study, so I asume that for the sake of impartiality they should not be "affiliated" in the sense that you are referring to, that of belonging to the same group. I think what they mean by 'associé' here is what Phil was saying, that the healthcare institution is the one involved in the actual implementation of the study.

Hi Liz, this is the very text that I am translating :). So after just coming across the definition that you quoted, and across the definition of "Etablissement coordonateur", just a few lines further, I've had to reconsider leaving out "associé". I translated it as "participating healthcare institution" in the end, but I am still not completely satisfied, so I'm still open to suggestions. :)
