CO2(g) pasa a HCO3−

Spanish to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng Hydrochemistry
Me interesaría saber cómo se traduce generalmente "pasar a" en un contexto como éste:

"Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el CO2(g) que se disuelve con el agua de lluvia que infiltra y recarga a las lentes pasa a HCO3− que disuelve las fases carbonatadas del sedimento."

Claramente el concepto es 'become' o 'turn to', pero quiero que suene bien natural. Es para un paper de hidrogeología para publicar.
