O texto versa sobre o contato dos Portugueses com povos africanos e asiáticos durante a expansão marítima do século XV.


Esse momento no qual a humanidade se ampliava, e a diversidade, com suas estranhezas, tinha de ser explicada como obra de Deus. Dessa forma, nos perguntamos sobre os juízos dos viajantes e cronistas quatrocentistas portugueses sobre tais padrões, em especial no que diz respeito especificamente às mulheres de lá em comparação com as suas conterrâneas.

feeling / what they felt

It depends on whether the 'viagantes' were capable of formulating opinions (based on judgement) or simply had 'feelings' based on deep-rooted emotions. I can imagine a conversation going a bit like "So sir what is your opinion of the natives?", "Dunno don't like 'em much"
