Come on! ........................skipper?

English Other Cinema, Film, TV, Drama The lady pays off (1951)
I can't understand what the skipper is saying after: Come on! Come on! and what the other actor is telling him.

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : Yeah, switching on the subtitles could help Daniel, or put him out of work :-)

Thanks a lot!
disagree Yvonne Gallagher : Sorry but the 2nd line is completely wrong. And there are a lot of other errors in these subtitles so they are not reliable.

pick up that slack

bringing in a load, eh Skipper

no, just bringing in the nets...the lousy nets we got won't hold a load
Peer comment(s):

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : doesn't sound like 'pick' to me, but it's hardly important.

maybe but pick/take are synonyms here so doesn't matter. The subtitles are very wrong in other parts so I wouldn't rely on them at all
agree Samantha Hind : It definitely sounds like "take up.." to me, but otherwise, this sounds right, Yvonne. It's hard to tell if he says "the slack" or "that slack", but I agree with you on the rest of the dialogue in any case!

Many thanks:-) Samantha. Yes, might be "take" but a synonym anyway so not important. What is important is that the next line makes sense.
