: not 'rescuing' by all means. I would use more neutral 'cover' of yours (Dylan's good but too 'emphatic', i'd say :-))

Thank you Vladimir. I still like Dylan's better: one can "cover/fix/spin" a situation/problem but "отмазать" or "get off the hook" the guilty party.
