I think there could be a typo here. The character for "ou" should actually be "怄" instead of "呕". "怄" means feeling annoyed or irritated. The whole sentence could be translated as "I was so pissed. How could I miss you?"

FYI:
"Oh gosh, I didn't see you there."

It literally means "I vomit.", but it also used to express a feeling of exclamation of surprise.
