Here, it is spelled feta.

Not all varieties are Greek. My wife argues that the French kind is the best, but the word itself is Greek, and the cheese is associated with Greek cuisine.

الجبنة البيضاء

In Syria and Lebanon there are a variety of white chesses ranging from the soft version similar to feta to much more solid ones such as the one called "عكاوية". The term "feta" is of course exclusive to a specific type of white chesse, a greek one.
