Wicking: Refers to a problem with moisture passing through the thread by capillary action. Many manufacturers are using CW Core or 100% Cotton to minimize wicking because the cotton swells when it is wet and fills the seam. Sometimes a special anti-wicking finish is applied to the thread to minimize wicking; however, this finish also can have an adverse affect on the frictional characteristic of the thread.

Vacuum i tessuti metallizzati forniscono una barriera al trasferimento di calore radiante. L' efficacia della barriera dipende dal metallo specifico depositato e dal tessuto usato. Queste proprietà sono state usate nelle applicazioni numerose da ritegno di calore o nella protezione al camuffamento dei militari.
Il tessuto metallizzato è elettricamente conduttivo anche se la resistenza sarà relativamente alta alle temperature normali dovuto l' applicazione sottile di metallo. Il rivestimento non fluirà alcua tensione significativa ma, ha conducibilità sufficiente per dare a tessuti le proprietà di interferenza elettromagnetica o di scarico elettrostatico. Queste proprietà possono essere aumentate dalla scelta dei metalli e dei tessuti per ogni applicazione.
Il rivestimento di Reflec-Tex è a strati 100 - 200 angstroms. Ciò significa che di meno che un chilogrammo di metallo è depositato su 1.000 tester lineare di 188 centimetri di tessuto largo del poliestere. Ciò è quasi insignificante considerando che la variazione del peso nella stessa quantità di tessuto dovuto i livelli di umidità è di quasi 10 chilogrammi.
Il rivestimento di Reflec-Tex non copre il tessuto come rivestimento ma realmente si lega alle diverse fibre. Le fotografie microscopiche indicano che il metallo è applicato così con precisione che non riempe lo spazio fra le fibre. Così i tessuti metallizzati Reflec-Tex mantengono l' alito-abilità e *** le proprietà wicking del tessuto *** non finito. La morbidezza e la duttilità del tessuto è inalterate.
Itessuti metallizzati Reflec-Tex possono essere lavati ed i rivestimenti puliti e vari possono essere applicati più ulteriormente per aumentare la durevolezza del tessuto senza avversamente interessare il rivestimento metallizzato vuoto.
