Does anyone know what the sign in parenthesis means?

{§455.O1O) Any adult, defined as a person 18 years of age or older or otherwise emancipated. This person is called the petitioner.

I don't know if this is a stupid question but I really don't know what it means and I would appreciate it any help you can provide me.

"Signo formado por dos eses ligadas, una más alta que la otra, de modo que se engarcen los trazos curvos inferior del primero y superior del segundo. el origen del signo tal vez se halle en la abreviación del sintagma latino signum sectionis.
Se emplea para remitir a un capítulo, versículo o sección, en sustitución de la palabra párrafo, especialmente cuando va entre paréntesis."
