But the ardor for Starbucks has gone the way of yesterday morning’s grounds. Critics in the music industry say the company squandered its cachet by mismanaging the effort to broaden its music mix.

people are not as enthusiastic about Starbucks as they once were

drawing an analogy to old, used coffee grounds (because Starbucks sells coffee)

Typically the expression is "X has gone the way of Y", where Y is something old and passé (more common formulations are "...has gone the way of the dinosaur" or "...has gone the way of the horse and buggy"). Here they are just saying that the ardor that once existed for Starbucks is now gone.

grounds = ground coffee, yesterdays grounds

grounds = ground coffee, yesterdays grounds means that their coffee is old and stale to the taste of todays coffee drinkers. yesterdays grounds is likened to the mix of yesterdays music, and Starbucks is now regarded as a place where there is an opportunity lost as they didn't keep up with the times.
