DESCRIPTION - Rapid detection and identification of microorganisms in medical, pharmaceutical and food processing fields. Detects viable microorganisms; presence of dead microorganisms does not affect results. Uses non-fluorescent dye substrate for microorganisms to metabolize extracellularly through enzyme specific reaction; this produces a fluorescent product which can be detected by specific radiation source, e.g. laser or fluorimeter.
