French term

prévisionnel fiable assouvi par

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) extranet business tool
"[the extranet tool] recense les prévisions sur 12 mois et leurs actualisations. Le Siège établit sur cette base un prévisionnel fiable, validé par la Gestion de la Demande et ***assouvi par*** le Déploiement."

Only knowing assouvir in the sense of satisfying a need, I cannot see what this Déploiement department are actually doing here.

Discussion

Helen Genevier (asker) Jun 10, 2008:
Hi Charles, it is a tool to link South American distributors to the French head office of a pharmaceutical and cosmetics group. I imagine it's about sales and/or stock
Charles Hawtrey (X) Jun 10, 2008:
Do you know what the "prévisions" are of? Are they forecasts of need for physical items, or of movements of personnel, for instance? The clue may be there.

reliable forecasts [...] fulfilled by

Sounds like some corporate shorthand going on here, since we are not told what the forecasts are of, but it appears they are forecasting a need for something which will be fulfilled by Deployment (which deploys a solution to fulfill the forecast need).

I am reading between the lines here, but I think this is a fair translation of your source text, barring any additional information supplied by the context or your client.

HTH!

Thanks Tamara, that works well
Peer comment(s):

agree Charles Hawtrey (X) : Useful quote there. I quite agree about corporate shorthand - "Déploiement" is used here when other companies could use a word like "Distribution".

Agree, it could even be a "Fulfillment" center or department. But the French couldn't have a Service d'Assouvissement could they ;-)
