: I think it means already adheres to self-imposed standrads that it expects to be at least as stringent as any standards that are subsequently introduced; such companies even sometimes end up setting the standard!

Seeing as it is a question of regulations, I believe the company is anticipating these standards seeing as the company itself does not enact regulations but is rather subject to them.

: In fact, in Europe, there are "normes, standard" and "réglementation". The "réglementation is something you must obey, while "standard" is a reference, like ISO9001

that's what it says..that bit..you really should post the entire sentence...if they anticipe them, it means they implement their own tough standards prior to the law doing so
