French term

FSCPL

French to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) lawsuit
This is a "fournisseur de services de communications pour le public en ligne". Is there a corresponding acronym in English or do I just translate it as it stands (on-line communications service provider for the public)? Just want to get it right. Many thanks

Discussion

Marc Theriault Jun 19, 2012:
It doesn't seem to be a common name, and the wording is rather weak (not to say wrong), so I would translate it, but you will need to change your version: it's not the provider that is online... it's the services.

supplier of online public communications services

Or online public communications services supplier.
You haven't given any context, but a literal translation works perfectly well. The fact that they've used an acronym in French doesn't mean you have to find an equivalent in English.

Online service provider

An ISP is an "Internet service provider" but you seem to need something broader.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : I think this is too broad. For example, Expedia is an online service provider, but it doesn't provide communications services.
