Under the heading COMMANDES
These appear to be protective gloves for handling highly dangerous substances. caoutchou en dissolution exists so I'm wondering if that is what is meant. I have no other context.

French term (edited):
gants de boîtes à gants en dissolution
Selected
gloves of dissolving (glove) box
Given the extract from the dissolving procedure described below, I think it can be read as follows, taking the whole phrase of the original as posted above.
https://e-reports-ext.llnl.gov/pdf/313667.pdf
"In addition to the amount of Be in the dissolving glove box, the amount of NaOH is also"of concern. If 50 grams of Be were present in the dissolving box and sufficient NaOH was
provided to dissolve the entire amount of Be and produce H2
gas, a calculation shows that the H2 /air mixture would not reach the explosive limit for our glovebox system. By limiting the
introduction of NaOH to 500 grams per batch, it reduces the possibility of an explosive mixture even further, and also helps to minimize the potential for boil over (see introduction). The potential for production of BeO . NaOH . H2O is also avoided."

: the idea is basically right but should be expressed in different way

Yes, of course, as my version is funny... visions of disolving boxes! "dissolution system glove boxes" has a better ring to it. I like your version too. Hits for "dissolution system" and "glove box" but not both terms together : probably works in context.

: Should read "in /undergoing dissolution", or have an article (in the dissolving process). The Linguee ref. "which are not corresponding to" shows an erroneous use of the pres. cont. which should be indicative : "which do not"; classic non-native error.

Daryo
: ----“Used in/for the dissolution process”? ---would be clearer? the "dissolution" is the process happening inside the glove box. Some chemicals are getting dissolved. Certainly not the gloves, nor the "glove box"! That would defeat the purpose.

Discussion
IS the right question. My proposed answer is:
gloves for dissolution process glove boxes.
Whatever is the finally adopted answer, the right "source term" should be entered for future reference.
Makes sense?
Once we know what’s getting dissolved, and what is protecting the surroundings from being dissolved, we are getting somewhere ;
The product is question :
"des gants de boîtes à gants [implicite : utilisées pour des processus de] en dissolution"
possible translation:
gloves for glove boxes used in dissolution processes
or
gloves for dissolution process glove boxes
or
dissolution process glove boxes gloves
These are not gloves you put on your hands – 75 to 80 cm is way too long - these gloves are for your whole arm to go in. Once these gloves are mounted on a “glove box" [http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boîte_à_gants_(laboratoire)]
This quote:
“The orders concerning the gloves for glove box in dissolution process and which are not corresponding to the standard lengths (750 mm or 800 mm) will be allowed only of relating to a number equal [...]”
should be taken with more than a pinch of salt.
Commercial orders are “accepted” not “allowed” etc….
The whole quote is the translation of the text given as reference – meaning the client was so happy with the translation (the one quoted in www.linguee.fr) that another one was required. But at least it makes it clear what kind of gloves we are talking about:
gants --- de boîtes à gants --- utilisées pour/dans les processus de dissolution.
It could well be as your reference but then someone should translate the phrase as 'laboratory gloves'.
But they could just as well be 'washing up gloves' as far as I can see from the context
It was more the first translation 'gloves in dissolution' that shocked me.
We'll get there togehter!!!

Hello
I really can't follow everyone's ideas here. What are 'gloves in dissolution ' cos Google doesn't have any ideas.
Aren't we talking more about waterproof gloves here??????
What is "en dissolution"? The "gants" or the "boîtes à gants"? I suppose it is the gloves but from a grammar point of view, it could be either.
