French term

crapotage

French to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Conveyor belt component
I'm translating a manual for the assembly of a conveyor belt system and can't find a translation for 'crapotage', more specifically, 'fixation par crapotage'

The sentence is:

Dans le cas d'une fixation par crapotage, si le châssis à les ailes vers l'extérieur, couper les rails XX plus long de chaque cotés..

Thanks in advance for any help.

Crabotage? I think this is a typo. Crabotage would seem more likely here - a kind of toothed fixing ? but this isn't really my sphere of expertise.

clamping

There is a mistake in the original text. It should be written ''crapautage''.
Peer comment(s):

agree chris collister : Yes, a "crapaud" (apart from the obvious) is a clamp
