Well, I'm clearly going to be at odds with the other answerers here, but I wonder if (reading the context carefully) it isn't more to do with making tasks CONDITIONAL on a set of circumstances? Not JUST 'data-gathering', but 'daily / 5-minutely / weekday' etc. See what I mean?
I've no idea how to express that correctly in English management-speak, but I can't help thinking there could be a little more to this than meets the eye...

agree Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X) : precisely...but isn't that scheduling?? If you look at what is in the brackets, those are different times...it's task scheduling......IMO

task adaptation

it refers to shaping, or adapting tasks around the plan, the planner, his or her tools, or whatever else if possible right down to the lowest common denominator. It is actually part of the breakdown of work process.
