Oxbow bend (or lake) Explanation: Hello, this is another name for the meanders in a river. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxbow_lake The word "oxbow" can also refer to a U-shaped bend in a river or stream, whether or not it is cut off from the main stream. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 mins (2014-10-28 09:16:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- 'Oxbow lake' would obviously be if it were totally cut off from the main river, but I see that's not the case here. |
