German term

Graumalerei

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
no, has nothing to do with Schwarzmalerei i.e. a negative attitude. This happens to be an actual articist undertaking or technique but although there are a number of google hits in German, I still have not find a satisfactory translation.
Perhaps we have some specialists out there? TIA.
