"Merk"-würdig-Macher
trait wizard

Explanation:
this is simply a suggestions - I'm thinking the "macher" is some kind of tool - so a "wizard" might do well here. And trait in terms of character traits....

I was trying to work something in with re-"mark"-able, but didn't get far without a suitable noun.

Not sure about the "noticeable" ...

Just some ideas...

Hand-"Merk"-würdig-Macher
Hand to "flag" as noteworthy

Explanation:
A literal translation would be: 'note'-worthy-maker", and Andrew's "attention grabber" is certainly a synonym.

My answer reflects a related meaning of "Merker" (= "flag" in software engineering). Just an off-the-wall alternative idea!

agree  Textklick: Off the wall? I think not. How about the pop(-)up hand flag? Added: Context makes me wonder whether it shows as a mouseover popup. http://forum.mamboserver.com/archive/index.php/t-53679.html. Christine?

-> Is it really a "pop-up" in the computer SW sense? Or is it just a symbol inserted in the text (by user or program)?

agree  Ralf Hellmold (X): "note"-worthy definitely fits the original meaning ;)
