In Visio gibt es mehrere unterschiedliche Shape-Arten:
1.Zweidimensionale Shapes: diese können einen offenen oder geschlossenen Umriss besitzen
2.Eindimensionale Shapes: z.B. jeder ***Verbinder***. Diese sind im Prinzip eine Linie mit zwei Enden (können aber komplexe Strukturen wie einen Pfeil abbilden)
3.Gruppen: ein Shape, welches selbst wieder Shapes enthält
4.Importierte Grafiken: eine spezielle Art der Kapselung von programmfremden Grafiken (JPG; BMP etc.)
5.Hilfslinien und Hilfspunkte: diese sind keine Shapes im eigentlichen Sinne, sie dienen der Unterstützung beim Zeichnen. Technisch sind die aber ebenfalls vollwertige Shapes

I think it is the obvious-sounding "Connector". I.e. a straight line for connecting the different shapes (each shape represents different processes, decisions, documents, subprocesses, etc. of a flowchart in Visio)
