Catering Equipment Catalogue
"Für die Thekenbeleuchtung ist ein frei nutzbarer Schalter vorhanden."
From a catalogue for catering equipment such as food counters. I don't understand what is specifically meant by "frei nutzbarer Schalter". Is it just "freely usable switch"? But surely most switches are freely usable, so why would you need to emphasise that point? TIA for helping me make some sense of this.

Counter lighting/illumination can be operated independently by means of a separate switch.
i.e. separate from all the other electrical equipment (e.g. the chiller)

Comment: "Everyone gave some really good answers here. Andrew's suggestion was closest to what I ultimately went with, and it got a little peer support, but if I could give points to all four of you, I would! Many thanks - appreciate your help."
