German term

Einkaufsmarkt

Was ist hier gemeint? "buyer's market", "consumer market", oder was anderes?
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

Woodstock (X) May 1, 2006:
Any chance of clarifying this with the originator? I think your query is completely justified: "Einkaufsmärkte" may just be a poor term choice, if "Märkte" is what is really meant. It's definitely not clear who's doing the buying or selling.
Woodstock (X) May 1, 2006:
@Ilka: Clear as mud... Now it seems as if they're talking about retail stores buying THEIR goods.
Sabine Odinga May 1, 2006:
Ilka Nahmmacher (asker) May 1, 2006:
Here's another sentence from further down, if it helps:

Ilka Nahmmacher (asker) May 1, 2006:
This is about products for the bathroom, kitchen, home, living and wellness: everything from textiles to food containers, towel racks to candles. Food itself is not involved. The company is a wholesaler that sells specific product lines with all of the associated advertising, display racks and product support to retailers. I don't know if they talking about the market in general (such as Absatzmarkt) or stores.
Woodstock (X) May 1, 2006:
Which products are meant here? Market in English (at least in AE) usually involves food.

purchase market

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks. I checked with the client, and they meant this definition."

retail stores (shops)

It sounds as if it means retail (Einzelhandel), as opposed to wholesale (Grosshandel). What type of products are involved here?

Ok, I reread the context and realized I was mistaken. Haste, and all that...
Sabine is closer with "purchase ...", but I think it should be re-worded to something like

"(tapping new markets) for purchasing goods/products/whatever", or similar
