Many English documents just refer to the "distance from (upper) incisors".

: It was not said "distance from (upper) incisors". but from (any) row of teeth. Note: This may also be the lower incisors as well as the molars // Thank you for your explaination

I get your point, Johannes - but in endoscopy the upper incisors are the reference (and implied in "vordere Zahnreihe") because this is where the endoscoper sees the scale on the endoscope passing by as it is advanced into the esophagus.

alignment (row of teeth)
laut LEO und Collins German Dictionary auch wenn ich eher zu "dental .. " gegriffen hätte, wie es medizinische Wörterbücher nahelegen.

: This is "Ausrichtung der Zähne"; sorry, but IMO Anne is perfectly right, during endoscopy, you describe distances as "cm from (the) incisors". Search for: alignment cm gastroscopy in Google, to check your vs. Anne's term.

It's not me, it's Lucius Passani, who describes that. By the way, Zahnreihe is not the same as Schneidezähne, what is the German translation of incisors.
