German term

Hauptanspruchsbegehren

German to English Law/Patents Patents Response to an opposition letter
Die sonstigen Unteransprüche schliessen sich inhaltlich unverändert mit entsprechend geänderten Rückbeziehungen an das dahingehende Hauptanspruchsbegehren an.

I know Begehren means desire, what is desired/requested, but I wonder if there is a specific legal term for Hauptanspruchsbegehren.

Here's my attempt:

With the content unchanged but with suitably altered back references, the other subordinate claims are connected to the relevant subject matter of the main claim.

I suppose I'm going to be the whipping boy this season, but I don't agree with most of what has been said. Since I'd rather not take part in any pre-Christmas [language inappropriate for this forum] contest, I'll just post these five links here--one including "Hauptanspruchsbegehren," three including "Anspruchsbegehren," and one including both "Gegenstand" and "Anspruchsbegehren"--and leave the rest to John:

John your translation is perfect, the Begehren is the subject-matter.
Björn Vrooman Dec 15, 2017:
@John and Phil "I know Begehren means desire"

Not necessarily. See
https://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/law_patents_tra...

And I don't think "subordinate" is right either. See last part here:
http://wirtschaftslexikon.gabler.de/Definition/patentanspruc...

And in English:

Cf

We could argue about whether "Hauptanspruch" should be called an independent or main claim in the States, but I'm pretty certain the part you're not asking about is a "dependent claim":

As you suggest in your translation, it's possible that "begehren" is redundant and the whole word simply means "main/principal claim". Patents are not one of my subjects, but it means something like "the content of the other subordinate claims is the same, and only the references to the principal claim have been altered."
